History Biographical
In 1906, W.P.J. Alexander operated The People's Drug & Stationery Company in Lethbridge. In 1914, William McCaffrey bought the store. In 1938, his son Jack opened a second People's Drug Store, and, in 1942, the names of the stores were changed to McCaffrey Drugs. In 1955, the second outlet was closed, and, in 1979, the original store was closed.
Scope and Content
The fonds consists of prescription slips of McCaffrey Drugs and its predecessor, including prescriptions from both outlets of the store.
Notes
The records have been sampled. The earliest prescriptions as well as those for the years 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950, and 1960 have been retained in full. Those prescriptions bearing the last digit 0, comprising ten percent of the remaining slips, were retained for all other years.
Title based on the contents of the fonds.
Access Restrictions
Researchers using the material must agree not to divulge the identities and case histories of the individuals named in the prescriptions.
