- Photographs of a railway crossing approved by the federal transport committee about two miles north of the University of Lethbridge’s location on the west side. It was understood, however, that railway officials were unhappy with the decision. When the first west university buildings would be in use in 1971, an estimated 1,200 to 1,400 cars were expected to use the crossing at peak periods and those figures would increase at times. For drivers to the university, the crossing occurred after a sharp left turn off Highway 3A, near the top of the coulees west of the city and a right turn which partially obstructed a view of the tracks.
