- Photographs of four Lethbridge students who were among more than 3,300 people who intended to participate in the Lethbridge Miles for Millions Walk. Left to right are Phil Christou, Walter Wolbert, Wendy Rasmussen and Paul Morgan. A planning council met to report on participation from city schools Which showed encouraging results in the first “count down” of walkers registered. Approximately 15 schools from elementary to the Lethbridge Community College had walkers registered. The walk was to start at the Lethbridge Exhibition Pavilion, go south to the college, north across the 9th Street bridge, past Winston Churchill High School and back to the pavilion. Funds from the walk were given to overseas agencies dedicated to the betterment of people in developing nations.
