- Photographs of Policemen’ Ball held at the Lethbridge Pavilion. Several hundred people attended and danced to the music of the Big Band. Receiving the early arrivals were left to right, Constable L. W. Van Horne and Mrs. Van Horne, Sgt. R. C. Kunz and Mrs. Kunz; police chief J. G. Carpenter and Mrs. Carpenter and Millar Arnold, chairman of the board of police commissioners and Mrs. Arnold. The theme of the ball was “college” in recognition of the establishment of the first law enforcement course in western Canada at the Lethbridge Community College. Military and police uniforms from the U.S. and Canada combined with glittering brocade, floating chiffon and soft velvet to create a panorama of color.
