- History Biographical
- The gas plant was located west of Grassy Lake belonged to the Canadian Western Natural Gas Company Ltd (CWNGC). The plant was used to store and supply gas for irrigation, residential and industrial needs.The panoramic photograph shows the compressor shed, office building, and the outdoor area. Mrs. Kimmitt’s husband Joe Kimmitt worked on this plant between 1966 and 1978 as a compressor operator, on shift schedule. The plant’s workers and their families lived in a small hamlet of nine houses close to the plant. There was a recreational hall nearby. The body of water on the photograph is South Saskatchewan River. The facility closed in the 1980s and the structures have been demolished.

- The picture was given to Mr. Kimmitt by his boss Stan Wasylyshen in 2000. Mrs. Kimmitt believes that the picture was once hanging in the plant’s office.
