- History Biographical
- Margaret (Brown) Nelson was born in Lethbridge, the eldest child and only daughter of Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. George S. Brown. She attended Bowman Public School, the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and summer school at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Since 1945 she was a member of the Lethbridge Branch of Registered Music Teachers. Mrs. Nelson was active member of the Anglican Church and worked as teacher, chorister and organist at St. Augustine's Church in North Lethbridge. In 1956 she was instrumental in reviving the Lethbridge Music Club, which was started by her mother-in-law Mrs. W.J. Nelson. She also helped organize the Lethbridge Symphoy Board in 1960 and instituted inauguration of the Lethbridge String Instrument Program in 1974. Mrs. Nelson was also a long-time member of the Sir Alexander Galt Chapter of I.O.D.E, where she served three terms as Regent. Source: Pioneer Pemmican Club Roundup p.522-524
