- Photograph of Steve Kotch at his new bus, part of the fleet at Northern Bus Lines of Lethbridge, western Canada’s oldest bus line. This bus brought its fleet of inter-city highway buses to 11. Kotch, the owner-manager of the company was a third generation in this family business which was started by his grandfather S. F. Kotch. Northern started in 1927 and was closely tied to southern Alberta’s then-booming mining industry. The company name is related to the line’s first route which ran through the Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District.
