- Mr. Edwards' 1947 Studebaker convertible coupe struck a Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) diesel electric engine on a test run from Lethbridge to Glenwood. The Studebaker was following two other cars that made it through the crossing safely. Mr. Edwards, of Evanston, Illinois - the only occupant of the car - was seriously injured in the accident and transported to St. Michael's Hospital in Lethbridge. His legs were pinned behind the steering column by the force of the crash. [source: The Lethbridge Herald, 13 July 1948, page 7]
