History Biographical
At about 7:00 pm on 6 September 1948, Mr. McNeely had just delivered a load of grain to the Ogilvie elevator at Warner, Alberta. He was driving across the level railway crossing to go into Warner when he was struck by a southbound Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) freight train. The train crew rendered assistance to Mr. McNeely at the scene, but he died a few minutes after the accident. Mr. McNeely was survived by his wife Alma and five children from a previous marriage: Mrs. Effie Chevalier, Mrs. Arlene Clark and sons Orlo, Alden and Lowell McNeely. Rock McNeely was 69 years old at the time of his death. [source: The Lethbridge Herald, 7 September 1948, page 1]
