- Art Larson became a civilian airframe instructor with the Wartime Emergency Training Program (WETP) from 1940 to 1947. He took the Hutter H-17 glider that had belonged to the Lethbridge Glider Club with him to Calgary, and flew it occasionally over the next seven years.
