- History Biographical
- Lewis M. Davies was the 25 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. T.L. Davies. Mr. Davies was the owner of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Lethbridge. On 11 January 1900 Lewis Davies was oiling the ventilation fans at the No. 2 Shaft. His clothing became entangled in the fan blades, and Davies was spun around and hurled against the ground numerous times until his clothing tore away and he was thrown about 20 feet away from the fan. By the time rescuers arrived, Lewis Davies was dead. [Source: Lethbridge News, 11 January 1911, page 1]
