- Photographs of Whoop Up Days judges of the herdsman competition. Left to right Mrs. Jack Moore, Mrs. Doug Sutherland and Mrs. Herb Christie. The three Lethbridge women were chosen to update the fair and advance its rural-urban relationships. The herdsman competition decided which livestock exhibitors provided the best display of their animals. Judging was based 50 per cent on general neatness of the display and grooming of the animals and 50 per cent on courtesy of attendants and information provided by them to interested visitors. Having these women judge such an event was considered a first for Lethbridge and perhaps western Canada.
