- William Henry McCaffrey received his certification as a pharmacist on 9 January 1912. He worked for William P.J. Alexander, owner of the People's Drug Store located at 240 13 Street North. In 1914 Mr. McCaffrey purchased the People's Drug Store from Mr. Alexander. In 1919 Mr. McCaffrey moved the store to 414 13 Street North. In 1938 Mr. McCaffrey's son, John S. McCaffrey, opened a second People's Drug Store at 310 6 Street South. In 1942 John McCaffrey moved his store to 331 5 Street South, and changed the name to McCaffrey Drugs. In 1955 John McCaffrey closed his southside store and took over operation of his father's pharmacy at 414 13 Street North. He renamed it McCaffrey Drugs. He closed that store in 1979 and retired.
