- History Biographical
- Widely known as "Canon Middleton" he was officially an archdeacon in the Anglican Church of Canada who, for decades, was in charge of the St. Paul Residential School on the Blood Reserve north of Cardston, Alberta. His keen interest in Waterton Lakes National Park led him to encourage his fellow Rotarians to propose the establishment of the world's first international peace park (Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park) which became a reality in 1932. Middleton also was the driving force behind the establishment of Waterton's first church, All Saints Anglican Church, in 1928. When he died, three funeral services were held: one in Fort Macleod, one in Cardston and one in Waterton Lakes National Park. He was also made a Kainai chief and members of the chieftainship participated in his funeral. He was died March 22, 1964 and was buried in the Waterton cemetery in March 26,1964.
