- History Biographical
- Gilbert Bratvold came to the Albion Ridge district from Minnesota with his mother Inga in the early 1900s. Gilbert purchased a farm in the district on which he and his mother lived. After the death of his mother, Mr. Bratvold went to Spokane, Washington to visit his former sweetheart Martha, who had been married but was by then a widow with two grown children. On 9 September 1924 the couple were married in Lethbridge, with Mrs. Bratvold's daughter Myrtle and son-in-law Rolly Tobler as attendants. Gilbert and Martha Bratvold continued to farm at Albion Ridge until Mr. Bratvold's health forced them to rent the farm out. Gilbert Bratvold died on 15 December 1940, age 74. He is buried in the Albion Ridge Cemetery. Martha Bratvold continued on the farm for several years after Gilbert's death, but then sold it to Jack Kane of Nobleford and returned to Spokane, Washington, where her daughter Myrtle and family still lived.
