- View of the main terminal at the Lethbridge International Airport located south of the city on the west side of Highway 5. Originally named Kenyon Field, the city began operation on the site in 1938, offcially opening in 1939. The site housed both military and domestic operations throughout World War II and afterwards was an important player in the regional carrier industry acting as a home to Time Air's operations until the early 1990s. In 1994 declining air traffic led to the decommissioning of its contol tower which was subsequently demolished. The airport was aquired by the county in January 1997 and later renamed the Lethbridge County Airport. It remained an international airport until September 2001 at which point it, like many smaller airports, it lost its point-of-entry status.
