The cairns were erected about 150 yards south and north of the customs offices. The Canadian cairn was on the east side of the highway; the U.S. cairn on the west side. Included in the initial work were P. Matson of Yellowstone National Park; J. Emmert, superintendent of Glacier National Park; Ven. Archdeacon and Rotarian Samuel H. Middleton of Cardston, shown here placing a stake; H. DeVeber, superintendent of Waterton Lakes National Park and I. Stinson, resident engineer of Waterton.
