- "Through the initiative of Dick Mells and Muriel Jolliffe, Lethbridge Allied Arts Council was convinced that sponsoring summer musicals would be a wothwhile addition to the Council's summer arts program. With the assistance of Ray Jolliffe to organize and supervise the backstage crew, Cathy Evins to design sets, props, and costumes, and Henry Waack to direct the musical activities, the first Allied Arts Council summer Musical, 'Babes in Arms', opened at the Yates Memorial Centre on August 19, 1966. Although some mature members of the Lethbridge theatrical community appeared in appropriate roles, most of the cast consisted of high school, college and university students since one of the major aims of this project was to provide and education, yet, 'upbeat' summer activity for Lethbridge young people.Allied Arts Councils also sponsored two succeeding musicals, 'The Pajama Game' (1967) and 'The Boy Friend' (1968); during the summers of 1969 and 1970, LMT backed the summer musicals, 'Little Mary Sunshine' and 'Your Own Thing'."
