- History Biographical
- “The book was created for the 50th Year of the Ziegler Reunions (1960-2010). This reunion was held at the Enchant Municipal Park from July 30-August 2. There were approximately 250 people in attendance (though some reports say up to 300). The reunion is usually held every 3rd year (though sometimes it was every 2nd year) and you can find in the book a list of all of the reunions, when they were, and who hosted them. Hosting duties moves around the various families. You can find some of the traditions of the reunion in the book (along with the family histories). Each reunion we take a picture of the oldest relative and the youngest relative (those pictures are in the book). My Grandmother was Irene Ella (Ziegler) Crowson. She was the daughter of Ira and Nellie Ziegler and the reunion was for the descendants of Ira and Nellie. The Zieglers originally homesteaded in Saskatchewan (and quite a few of the Zieglers are still there) but a large number now live in southern Alberta from Medicine Hat to Pincher Creek. In addition to this book, they also created a cook book. The cover is of the Ziegler homestead and the cover is based on an original oil painting done by one of my relatives (Lee Lowther Kergin). The original oil painting was won in an auction by my sister-in-law, Tammie Crowson.” [Information supplied by the donor in an e-mail dated 3 August 2010]
