- Notes
- George Thomas Clifton was the son of George and Alice Clifton [nee Nate], who moved to Stirling, Alberta from Utah in 1901. The family later settled in Magrath. George T. Clifton married Ethel Bennett Clifton, and the couple had six children at the time of Mr. Clifton's death on 3 March 1922 at age 40. Mr. Clifton had worked the previous winter for John Rollingson at a small 'pothole' mine on the bank of the St. Mary's River north of Magrath. On his last day of work at the mine, Mr. Clifton was killed in a slide of shale and rock. [Source: The Lethbridge Herald, 6 March 1922, page 5]
