- Photograph of Charles M. Russell’s art titled Waiting for a Chinook depicting one of the most severe snowstorms in the history of Montana (1886). Cattle and sheep died by the thousands and Russell’s employers, Stadler and Kaufman, with a large cattle operation, wrote him asking about the condition of stock in his care. Russell did not write but with his brush drew a picture which told hits own story. The coyotes awaited the last victim of the storm. The picture became famous and is the most noted of all of Russell’s works.
