- R. N. Wilson, 1864-1944 was a member of the Northwest Mounted Police ( N.W.M.P.) from 1881 until 1886 at which time he founded the Standoff Trading Post. He was an amateur photographer and during visits to Writing On Stone in 1885 and 1887 took numerous photos. His originals were donated to the Fort Macleod Museum, but other facilities have obtained prints over the years.
