History Biographical
Mr Sloan, the donor's father, was born in Ontario in 1888. His family moved to Lethbridge in 1899 after his father got a job with the Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company in 1903. He took a job as a junior clerk at #3 Mine. He was also employed at the Macaroni Factory, Ellison Mills and Heinz and Sloan Stationers before securing a job with the Federal Government in Calgary in 1927. He retired in Calgary in 1954 and resided there until his passing in 1959 at the age of 70.
