- John H. Cavanah opened his Maple Leaf Store in Lethbridge in November 1885. He renovated and expanded the store in May 1891. In December 1894 Cavanah had a going out of business sale, and in 1895 Robert Sherlock and Manfred Freeman bought the Maple Leaf Store.
