- Donor: Joan Croskery Date of accession: 30 October 2002 Papers and memorabilia of Anne Campbell Donated by Vera Ferguson via Joan Croskery to Galt Museum Title: Vera Ferguson Fonds – Anne Campbell Singers Vera Ferguson was a prominent citizen of Lethbridge, involving herself in a variety of community activities, such as Toastmasters and community theatre. She ran as an independent candidate and became only the second woman to have served on City Council. Her terms ran consecutively from the late 1960s until the early 1980s, including a term as deputy mayor. From 1973 – 1976 she served as Vice-President of the Canada Winter Games Society, which staged the games in 1975. Vera Ferguson became involved with the Anne Campbell Singers in 1969, as Corresponding Secretary for the association. In this role she tirelessly pursued funding and performance opportunities for the Singers. She remained involved with the Anne Campbell Singers until 1972. The Anne Campbell Singers was founded in 1967, a touring choir formed from a nucleus of the Southminster Junior Girls Choir, which Anne Campbell began at Southminster United Church in the early 1950s. This fonds consists primarily of correspondence relating to choir tours of Europe, and minutes and financial statements of the Anne Campbell Singers Parents Association, an organization formed to assist Anne with choir business and touring arrangements.
