- Photograph of the dedication of a plaque honoring two Canadian veterinary scientists which was unveiled at the Animal Diseases Research Institute by H. A. (Bud) Olson, Canada’s minister of agriculture. The plaque honored Dr. Edward A. Watson and Dr. Michael D. Gallivan, the first men to positively identify the horse disease, Maladie du coit ( sometimes called horse syphilis). The plaque was located on the site of the old wooden frame laboratory where the researchers did their experiments. The building was demolished and the new institute offices were built near the old site along the Oldman River.
