Photograph of Canada’s largest land and cattle auction which took place at Stavely Alberta on October 29 and 30. The sale included 1,280 acres of farm land with a 1,000 head feedlot, 7,400 acre Blacktail Ranch and 1,500 head of Charolais cattle. Ken Hurlburt of Fort Macleod Auction Market and John Milne were in charge of the sale for Morris N. Palmer, Calgary cattleman and oilman who was also selling the Big Coulee Ranch by private treaty. Earlier in the year Palmer purchased a 30,000 acre ranch from the Mormon Church in a deal involving some $3 million.
