- Alvin Ripley was employed by the Bentley Company as a bookkeeper prior to opening a real estate, accounting, and insurance office in the Whitney Block in January 1908. In November 1914 he took over the position of Postmaster. On 25 March 1909 he married Elizabeth Agnes Campbell in the Knox Church (first couple married in the church). Major Ripley commanded the 20th Field Battery Canadian Field Artillery from Lethbridge and was killed overseas May 1917. Copyright Glenbow Archives.
