History Biographical: On 4 March 1968 the Archeological Society of Alberta, Lethbridge Centre, was contacted by Mr. Franklin (Lindy) Smith regarding an archaeological site on his farm that would be destroyed when the site was plowed for additional cropland that spring. The Archeological Society of Alberta, Lethbridge Centre, immediately assembled a team and started salvage archaeological work on the site. Identified as Site No. 3, Project #8 by the club, the project team was made up of Charles Tyrrell (field captain), Dr. John F. Dormaar (soil survey), Al Urickson (general survey), Bill Byrne (field supervisor), Villa-Jean Tyrrell (excavations), June Carpenter (excavations) and Jim Carpenter (report editor). Photography was done by The Lethbridge Herald. A detailed account of the project can be found on pages 51 to 58 in the book "The Last Great (Inter-Tribal) Indian Battle (Lethbridge, 1997) published by the Lethbridge Historical Society.
