- The Lethbridge House was built by William Henderson in 1885, on the corner of what is now 2 Avenue and 5 Street South. In summer 1899 Henderson and his new business partner, Frederick W. Downer, began construction of a new hotel on the same site. The first wing was completed in the fall of 1899, and the second and final part in 1900.
