- History Biographical
- In 1941, the Alberta British Columbia (A.B.C.) Senior Hockey League was created in response to a crisis which saw the Edmonton Flyers, Coleman Canadians, Olds Elks, Turner Valley and Oilers and Drumheller Miners cease operations, primarily because of a shortage of players caused by World War 2. Edmonton's arena was also commandeered by the military authorities. The two remaining teams from the Alberta Senior Hockey League - the Lethbridge Maple Leafs and Calgary Stampeders - joined with the newly formed Red Deer Buffaloes, as well as the Trail Smoke Eaters and Kimberley Dynamiters from British Columbia to start the A.B.C. Senior Hockey League. The league operated from 1941 to 1947. [Sources: Alberta Senior Hockey League Schedule: catalogue number 20091050002.
