- History Biographical
- Muriel Elizabeth Harvey was the granddaughter of William Harmon Fairfield, and the mother of Janet and Jean Harvey. The plaque on the cairn reads "Canada Department of Agriculture Experimental Farms Service - This prairie boulder symbolic of the parent soil material of the region, was moved to this site to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Lethbridge Experimental Farm and to honour W.H. Fairfield, O.B.E., M.S., LL.D. who established the farm on the virgin treeless prairie in 1906 and continued as Superintendent until his retirement in 1945. The original farm of 100 acres was donated by the Alberta Railway and Irrigation Company. - Unveiled July 25th, 1956, by J.G. Taggart, O.B.E., B.S.A., D.S.O., LL.D., Deputy Minister"
