- History Biographical
- The cairn was a project of the Town of Milk River to celebrate Canada's centennial in 1967. The flags are of those nations and private interests that have flown over the region since Eurpoean explorers arrived: France (1682-1762), Spain (1762-1800), the Republic of France (1800-1803), the United States (1803-1818), the Hudson's Bay Company (1818-1869) and Canada (1869-present). The flags of Canada include the Red Ensign (1867-1965) and the Maple Leaf (1965-present). In the photograph, two flags commemorating Canada's centennial fly below the other eight.
