- History Biographical
- The Altamont Museum started as a collection of objects acquired by Henry and Caroline Schultz beginning in 1910. The objects were housed and displayed on the Schultz homestead near Milk River, Alberta. In 1961 the Altamont Museum acquired the collections of the former Gurney Museum in Lethbridge. Belmore Schultz, son of Henry and Caroline, took over the operation of the museum from his parents. In 1961 Mr. Schultz purchased the collections of Gurney's Museum in Lethbridge. The purchase brought the holdings of the Altamont Museum to over 13,000 objects. The Altamont Museum closed in 1989, and an auction was held during the week of 14-20 August 1989 to sell off the collections. The Galt Museum and Archives in Lethbridge acquired several artifacts from the auction.
