History Biographical
Photograph of John George Kootenai Brown born in 1839 in England. He immigrated to North America in 1862. He was the first permanent white resident in the area of what would become Waterton Lakes National Park. He became its first warden and later, acting superintendent. He died in 1916 in his home across the road from Lake Linnet and is buried on the shore of Lower Waterton Lake between his two wives.
