Mr. Fruet took the photograph from the window of his studio at No. 9, 324 5 Street South.
Scope and Content
View of people lining up on both sides of 5 Street South to watch the VE Parade as it proceeds north from 4 Avenue South on Tuesday May 8, 1945 A portion of the Roxy Theare sign is seen on the right. The building on the left in the IOOF [Independent Order of Oddfellows] In the parade were the Vetertan Gurds of Canada, the 20th Reserve unit veterans from both World War 1 &2, RCAF members, Sea, Army and Air Cadets, RCMP, Boy Scouts and the I.O.D.E.[Independent Order of the Daughters of the Empire] Also participating were Hollywood movie stars Claire Trevor and George Murphy who were in OLethbridge in suport of the Alberta Victory Loan Campaign.
