- According to the donor, in March 1912, 3 townships in the Del Bonita area were thrown open for homesteading. People lined up for days in front of the Dominion Public Building causing neighbouring residents to complain. To solve the problem, the sidewalk was marked off into numbered squares and those waiting in line were assigned a square. On 1 May 1912, those with a number returned to the line and the homesteads were awarded on a first come, first serve basis. This photo was taken 1 May 1912, when over 200 people were in line to file claims. People filing for homesteads included: T. H Stagg, assigned square 1; Mrs. Farries (daughter Anna still resides in Lethbridge), assigned square 11; donor, assigned square 13; Bill Harper; and John Coyle along with his father and brother. The donor later owned Kitson's Pharmacy.
