John Vaselenak Fonds

Scope and Content: One photograph and one certificate relating to the involvement of John Vaselenak in the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of Canada.

History Biographical: John Vaselenak was born on 3 March, 1888 in Austria and came to Lethbridge in 1919. He married Catherine Negrey and had three sons: Jerome Martin, Francise Adrian and John Robert. He was lawyer from 1919 until 1979 at the time of his passing. On 5 March, 1924, he was initiated into the Elks Club. He was exalted ruler for Lethbridge from 1928-1929; Provincial President from 1935-1936; and Past Grand Exalted Ruler for Canada from 1938-1939. He was also a life member since 1965. He died on 17 April, 1979.

Custodial History: These items originally belonged to Mr. John Vaselenak. They came into the possession of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lethbridge Lodge No. 37, who have in turn donated them to the Galt Museum and Archives.
