- History Biographical
- The "Akaitapiiwa / Ancestors" exhibit was organized with the cooperation of the British Museum in London, England and the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ontario, who each possess parts of a collection of Blood artifacts originally acquired by Maude Deane-Freeman and her husband Frederick, who was the issuer of rations on the Blood Reserve from 1884 to 1900. A group of 16 Blood elders provided guidance and advice regarding the creation of the exhibit. Arni Brownstone of the Royal Ontario Museum curated the exhibit and Wilma Wood, former Director of the Galt Museum and Archives, was the project manager. Twenty-eight private and government sponsors supported the "Akaitapiiwa / Ancestors" exhibit through direct financial assistance or donations in kind. The exhibit ran from 1 May to 15 September 2002. For more information about the "Akaitapiiwa / Ancestors" exhibit, refer to the book "Akaitapiiwa / Ancestors" in the Archives.
