- Monument reads: "In memory of Rev. Leonard Van Tigehem OMI first Pastor of St. Patrick's Parish Lethbridge. Born in Flanders, Belgium in 1851 arrived in St. Albert in1882 as a lay brother on the Oblate congregation. Ordained as a priest by Bishop Vital Grandin OMI in 1883 sent to Fort MacLeod and Pincher Creek missions, became first resident priest in Lethbridge where he built St. Patrick's Church in 1887. After serving in Lethbridge from 1887 to 1909 Father Van Tigehem served in other Alberta points including Taber where on March 1917 this pioneer builder and servant of God departed this life for his eternal reward".
