- Albertan. James Zenkichi Shimbashi arrived in British Columbia in 1906. 5 years later he was employed as a farmhand. In 1942, after farming in Raymond for 15 years, he, his wife, five sons, and three daughters moved to Barnwell, where he purchased a quarter section of land.
