- This mine, called the Suran Mine, operated less than two years and produced only 1,815 metric tonnes of coal. The mine was opned by John Suran on 10 April 1922. On 20 March 1923 James Bateman informed the Mines Branch that he was operating the mine alone. Bateman took on a partner, Alfred George Gent, on 20 April 1923.
