History Biographical
The Clarindale Stock Farm was located about six miles north of Vauxhall. Its legal description is Section 10 Township 14 Range 16 west of the 4th meridian. The farm was started in the Fall of 1919 by Elmor Staples, Chester Staples, and Mr. Bartar. The farm was named after Clara (Staples) Green, the sister of Elmor and Chester. Alvin Hildebrand became manager of the farm in 1922 after the departure of Mr. Bartar. Hildebrand managed the farm for 27 years. The Staples family sold the farm to Donna and Emanuel Cohen in 1951. The Cohens sold the farm in 1966 to Kay Kitigawa and she sold it to Okuma and Tashiro Farms in 1974. The O & T farms donated the barn from the farm to the town of Vauxhall to be used as an interpretive centre in 1992. Source: LHS Newsletter, Sept 2002.
