- History Biographical
- Sheran quarried coal at Lethbridge from 1874 until his death by drowning in 1882. At doctor George Mercer Dawson's suggestion, Sheran constructed a timbered entry (as shown in photo) in 1881 to give some protection from land-slides and roof collapses (information taken from Lethbridge: Its Coal Industry, 1989).
