- History Biographical
- Sam R. Brady opened the Lethbridge Bakery in the late 1880s. In May 1888 the Lethbridge News carried a Lethbridge Bakery advertisement offering home delivery. The name was changed to City Bakery around 1900 and Brady operated it until 1904. From 1904 until its purchase by Robert W. Scott in 1908, the bakery had numerous owners. The first City Bakery was located at 406 2nd Avenue South, next to the Number 1 Firehall. In 1915 Scott built a new modern bakery at 1408 3rd Avenue South. The bakery remained at this location until Scott's retirement in 1945. His son John then took over the business and changed the name to Star Bakery.
