- History Biographical
- The building was constructed circa 1908 by George Dainty and his son, Albert. It served as a private Maternity Hospital from 1909 until 1918, when it was made into a general hospital because of the flu epidemic. Albert Dainty's daughter, Grace Annie, a qualified nurse in Medicine and Surgery, was in charge of the hospital. Miss Dainty was also Matron of the Children's Shelter from 1905 to 1909, and from 1917 to 1929 she served as the first School Nurse of Lethbridge and District. She continued to live in this building until her death in 1974. In 1984 the Lethbridge Herald donated to the Archives, their negatives dating from 1965 to 1983. The original collection is catalogued chronologically, but a few of the duplicates have been catalogued into the Archives' regular photograph collection. These images are from the 1984 Lethbridge Herald Collection.
