- Albertan - local. For gift certificate or information on donor refer to P19821021001-GP. Bill Ruryk was a Canadian Pacific Railway employee whose job it was to tend this garden and the station garden at Fort MacLeod. He was an enthusiastic and skillful horticulturist and the results of his efforts won the Lethbridge Horticultural Society's prize for the best commercial garden in Lethbridge 3 consecutive years, together with a cup which had been donated by Sick's Lethbridge Brewery. Mr Ruryk was of Ukrainian descent, and had worked on the railroad tracks until an injury disabled him from the heavy work involved after which he got the garden job. He retired from the C.P.R. in 1970 and died in 1978.
