Early life in Saskatoon, born 1909, Margaret Siller. Career—a buyer for McKillan & later Baton's women's wear, she was always interested in people so enjoyed this occupation. Married in 1937 to Doug Sutherland, director of the B.C.Trust in Leth. Margaret's interests & activities, in Southminster Church—Cheer group, Vice-President of the Ladies Aid, first secretary of the U.C.W. in I960, Sunday School Teacher encouraging others to use their talents. I.O.D.E. Dr. Mewburn Chapter, war work, sewing for Red Cross, raising money by the collection of scrap & the sale of war stamps (saving), educational program during peace time raising money for scholarships. She was given an honorary membership for 47 years & also an honorary member of the U.C.W. (Still active in both). 1951 Margaret was appointed by the city council to the Gait Hospital Board, a volunteer until .... After this time she became an elected member . 1955
- she topped the polls in 1977 and became chairman of the Board of Directors, of the Lethbridge Municipal Hospital„ representative for S. Alta. hospital trustees,, becoming a member of the Alberta Hospital Association board of directors.. Became interested in educating young people in varied medical careers. She introduced this program into the schools. Preferred working at the grassroots: with people. Became an honorary life member of S.Alta. Regional Conference 1977. In ... member of the auxilliary to the Gait, Municipal, St. Michael's, & the Rehab. Hospitals, still active in 1984 as a volunteer. Jubilee celebration in the hospitals, member of the centenial committee 1967. Representative to the Drug & Alcohol Abuse Commission. Update promotional material for Lethbridge, The Heart Foundation discussed, Margaret added the experience of being the first Herdsman Judge in 1969,, at the Exhibition. Margaret's involvement in the Y.W.C.A.—first Y.W.C. building & its activities. Home & School Association in the 1940's. I.O.D.E. Fashion Shows in the late 30's , The Bonnet Shows, One Prairie Province Conference.
