- History Biographical
- The Mounted Police established their headquarters on Barrack Square in Lethbridge in 1885. The square was bounded by 9 Street South (west), 4 Avenue South (north), 11 Street South (east) and 6 Avenue South (south). After World War 2, the Mounted Police presence on the square was reduced to an office building at 5 Avenue and 9 Street South. Lethbridge City Hall (1949), the Court House (1951), Fritz Sick Centre (1950), a sports field, Civic Ice Centre, and the YMCA were all constructed on land formerly occupied by the Barracks Square.
