History Biographical
The Duff family lived in Scotland, where they farmed and operated a distillery. John Duff moved to Lethbridge in 1885 and took up land near Lethbridge. His son Donald (1879-1946) was a civil engineer who also served as Lethbridge City Clerk.

The fonds consist of records of the Duff family. Includes land rental receipts, insurance receipts, business correspondence and agreements of the family distillery in Scotland, tax notices, household correspondence, business investments in local coal and oil companies, personal financial papers, land purchase and sale agreements, and other financial records. Includes diary of John Duff describing the move to Lethbridge in 1885.
